Oratorio - Redemption
Rivel Records

file under Heavy / Power metal

Oratorio - RedemptionEddy: Quote from Wikipedia: “An oratorio is a large musical composition including an orchestra, a choir, and soloists. The oratorio was somewhat modelled after the opera. Their similarities include the use of a choir, soloists, an ensemble, various distinguishable characters, and arias. However, opera is musical theatre, while oratorio is strictly a concert piece. There is little or no interaction between the characters, no props or elaborate costumes. The most important difference is their subject matter. Opera tends to deal with history and mythology, including age-old vices of romance, deception, and murder. The plot of an oratorio is often minimal and deals strictly with sacred subjects, making this form of entertainment acceptable and appropriate for performance in the church. Protestant composers took their stories from the Bible, while Catholic composers looked to the lives of saints”.

Well Oratorio is also a band formed in 1998 from Finland, ‘Redemption’ is their second album, they are working under the flag of the Rivel Records Company. The music is a crossing between Tarot, Metallica, Stratovarius, Children Of Bodom and Iron Maiden. The bands line up remained the same since their debut album; they toured around in Sweden, Norway and Germany, blablabla!!!
Well guess what, it doesn’t matter to me that much. All what I hear on this record are exactly the influences of the bands mentioned above, nothing more nothing less. This band really doesn’t add anything new to it all. There is not a single moment on this record that makes me say: “Wow, that sounds new and refreshing”. I have heard it all before. So I thank Wikipedia for helping me to make an interesting lead in to a story that is heading nowhere, well this album is heading in that same direction. For family and friends only.
