Striborg - Nocturnal Emissions - Nyctophobia (Re-release) Displeased Records file under black/pagan metal
Sir Blastalot: I pressed play, and then it happened! I was stunned by the beautiful guitar riffs, the atmospheric keyboard melodies, the perfect structure of the music, rarely I have heard such good production in black metal… But wait a second… Whoops, I am sorry, I was still listening to ‘Epos’ by Darkestrah while I was supposed to write something usefull about Striborg.
Did you know that the Tasmanian Devil population has been demished severely since the 90s? Research has proved that Striborg caused this problem. This individualist from Hobart released a demo named ‘Cold Winter Moon’ in the year of 1997 and well, everything went downhill from there. Now it is ten years later and the consequences are of biblical proportions. To make things even worse Finsternis Productions decided to re-release the 2003 compilation ‘Nocturnal Emissions – Nyctophobia’ again (which is filled with of 2002 and 2003 demo’s). Let’s be honest here, they would be better off leaving this junk for what it is. The records opens with a even more atrocious sound than the recently re-released full-length ‘Spiritual Catharsis’ (which is also reviewed in this edition of LoM) and to make it even worse, the first track countswell over 20 minutes! The horror! Screech! Peep! Casio keyboards! A violinist without talent who plays like a retard! Do not buy it, no!! Best track: none. Dronckaerdt Speaks Rating: 10/100 (details)
