Moonlight Agony - Silent Waters
Dockyard1 Records

file under heavy / power metal

Moonlight Agony - Silent Waters Eddy: Imagine you like bands like Evergrey, Dream Theater and Symphony X and you are thinking: “When can I expect some new albums from these guys?” Than it’s great there are bands that have these groups as an example for their own music and have a sound that is similar to these bands.

Well, the Swedish guys from Moonlight Agony did listen very good to the bands I mentioned above and deliver with their second album called ‘Silent Water’ a nice substitute for the albums you would expect from Evergrey, Dream Theater and Symphony X. These Swedes who started their own thing in 1999 do a good job in delivering a nice album full of exciting tunes that will stick to you after one listen. Dockyard1 catch up with them and offered the guys a worldwide deal because they were impressed by their debut album called ‘Echoes of a Nightmare’. Listening to the new album it feels like the band takes you on a journey through a musical landscape that is not getting boring at any moment. There are some amazing changes in moods and speed. The second song on this album is called ‘You Betrayed Me’ and is my personal favourite one. It has a very catchy tune and especially the Rhapsody kind of middle piece with band choir voices is pretty amazing. Also very special is the last song on this disk called ‘Solemn Waters’. On this song they have a female guest-singer called Sara Kvist, a girl with a beautiful voice putting the icing on the cake on this song. Unfortunately this debut only last forty-five minutes, I really like to hear some more. Check them out!
