Koen: It's commonly known that Abscess features Clint Bower (ex-Hexx, The Ravenous, guitars and vocals), Danny Coralles (ex-Autopsy, guitars), Joe Allen (bass) and Chris Reifert (ex-Death, ex-Autopsy, The Ravenous, drums), but those who didn’t, do it now. Since its inception in 1994, Abscess have polluted the scene with a vast number of releases like ‘Urine Junkies’, ‘Thirst For Blood, Hunger For Flesh’ and various split vinyl collaborations and compilations with the likes of Deranged, Blood Red Bacteria and Eat My Fuk (soon to be released). The newest output is entitled ‘Horrorhammer’ is their debut album for Tyrant Syndicate Production, the new sub-label of Peaceville Records.

The Darkthrone guys (who lead the company) had been long-time fans of both Abscess and Autopsy and thought that the band would suit the attitude and mentality of their Tyrant Syndicate label perfectly, so in early 2006 a deal was completed. The seventh full-length Abscess release, ‘Horrorhammer’ was recorded at Prairie Sun Studios, where Possessed recorded their classic ‘Seven Churches’ album. Abscess was and always will be U.S.A.’s most filthy punky death metal band which is once again proven on this album, so if you like your death metal unrefined, strident and putrid, ‘Horrorhammer’ is the perfect replacement for your liquid manure pit.
