Sol Asunder - Horribly Human Self-financed file under death metal / grindcore
Koen: As an unsigned band, Sol Asunder has supported such bands live as Origin, Deeds of Flesh, Severed Savior, Impaled, Dark Tranquillity and Himsa in their first years from its inception in 2003. In 2004 the first studio EP output, ‘Asunder The Surface’ was released, followed by their most recent album ‘Horribly Human’. The bands most recent big win was landing a spot on the soundtrack for ‘Tony Hawk Downhill Jam’ (one of the first games to be released for the Nintendo Wii).
I’ve been listening to this self-produced album quite some time the past few weeks and I must confess that it took more than one listen to appreciate this Gothenburg death/thrash hammer, but it’s certainly one of those albums where it grows on you. Sol Asunder provides us with a shitload of guitar riffs, aggressive vocals and belligerent drum ‘n bass battering. There are many exceptional melodies in great songs like the vicious opener ‘Beneath The Surface’, ‘Malformation’ and ‘Redeemer’.
With a vast catalogue of still unrecorded songs, Sol Asunder have laid out the framework and music for their next two full-length albums. The band is currently in search for a label so check ‘em out and order this disc for $12,- (U.S.A. residents) or $14,- (others) through the bands webspace.
