Devious - Domain Deity Down Records file under death metal / grindcore
Koen: After their self-released self titled mini CD in 2002 and their debut full-length ‘Acts Of Rage’ (2003, Spitzenburg Records), Devious joined forces with Deity Down Records, whom proudly released Vermin’s ‘A Nihilistic Swarm’ last year. ‘Domain’ is the second release for the label and I surely hope Deity Down will keep on continue to sign Dutch bands of this calibre because I really like the “quality instead of quantity” approach of the label, which is quite a good way to promote band as label.
After the release of their debut-album, Devious shared the stage with bands like Malevolent Creation, Aborted, Darkane and Vader and even did a European tour with Krisiun and I assume these touring experiences proved very inspirational to main man Guido (guitars and production) and I am convinced he gave the best of himself. Each and every song is written thoughtfully by him and is hauntingly aggressive and has dept, which is very revitalizing in death metal these days. Of course, the rest of the band completes the overall sound and are not to be forgotten and new vocalist Coen perfectly matches the band’s style as his voice is extremely looooooow.
Devious takes a giant step forwards with this release and is destined for world domination. If you’re not able to find this CD in stores, check out Deity Down’s homepage, where it’s available for € 12,- (shipping and handling not included).
