Thaurorod - Tales Of The End (Demo)
Self-financed

file under Heavy / Power metal

Thaurorod - Tales Of The EndVera: ‘Tales Of The End’ marks - in contradiction with what the title might surmise - a new beginning for Thaurorod. In a previous line-up they did release a first demo in October 2004, but many things happened since then. A new guitarist was enlisted, a new vocalist was found and on top of this they added a female keyboardist which remarkably renewed the sound of this young Finnish band.

On this demo one can find three songs of proper quality. The three original members once started in an Iron Maiden cover band and Thaurorod’s music obviously has much relatedness with neo classic heavy metal. That is pretty clear in the Malmsteen allied guitar skills in the first track ‘Tormented No More’. Full speed drums, brimming with epic tendencies and a larger than life feel are dominating factors in the music. The quite imperturbable vocals of Vladimir Lumi demand a little bit of getting used to, but after a few spins I have to admit it adds a special sound to the band. The presence of keyboards is utilized in plenty during the next two tracks. ‘Elämän Tuli’ - sung in Finnish - even has some gothic influences. This calmer song has more keys and the deep baritone vocals of Vladimir suit very well. The neo classic guitar skills are used when needed, but they are not a priority.

This turned out to be an agreeable first encounter. Hopefully it will be continued soon (three songs and fifteen minutes of music are not that much), because in December 2006 the band should have recorded a next demo ‘Morning Lake’ which will reach our offices pretty soon. To be continued indeed…
