Eddy: There are so many fine Finnish metal bands out there; you name them, Stratovarius, Altaria, Sonata Arctica and so many more. I love them all deeply but they have got topped now by a pretty new band called Winterborn. I do not know what it is but they just have that little bit extra in their music that makes them stand tall in between their fellow countrymen. This band started of under the name Mean Machine, a heavy metal cover band. In December 2004 they decided to start their own thing and Winterborn was born. The same line-up from their cover days still stands now and they are a bunch of very talented musicians with every single musician being a true solid part of the whole machinery. All musicians have different kind of musical backgrounds and that can be heard in the music of Winterborn. Their tunes seem to be melted together out of all kind of ranges of the rock and metal music what makes them unique. Just listen to the masterpiece ‘On The Edge Of Eternity’. This song lasts ten minutes and is a great travel through all kind of musical landscapes. It just reminds me a little bit of the way Dream Theater approaches song-writing. This is music how it should be. This music is suitable for a wide range of rock-fans, from melodic rock to heavy metal; all listeners can find their own thing on this album from Winterborn.
