Burning Point - Burned Down The Enemy Metal Heaven file under Heavy / Power metal
Sjak: Burning Point is a Finish band, who has already released two albums on Limb Music (being ‘Salvation By Fire’ from 2001 and ‘Feeding The Flames’ from 2003). It has taken quite a while but at last here’s album number three. They managed to score a new record deal with Metal Heaven Records and I must say that I think that they fit well with this German label. Limb Music releases contain more influences from symphonic rock and progressive metal, while Metal Heaven Records is sticking to traditional metal and a band like Burning Point is perfect for that.
Stylewise the band can be categorized as melodic (power) metal with great guitar work and powerful vocals. The melodic aspect is best shown in songs like ‘Heart Of Gold’ and ‘From The Beginning Of It All’, while the power aspect is most obvious in tracks like ‘Parasite’ and ‘Hell Awaits’ (no, not the Slayer tune). If you’re looking for comparisons, then bands like Nocturnal Rites and Edguy come to mind, but I have to mention that they’re not on that quality level (yet). This ‘Burned Down The Enemy’ is a good listening experience, but the band has the disadvantage that there’s a lot of competition in this specific genre. Therefore, despite of the fact that this is a good record, I’m afraid that a lot of people won’t get acquainted with this and that would really be a shame. Good record from a good band!
