Less Than Jake - In With The Out Crowd

 Patrick: Less Than Jake is a punkrock formation from Gainesville, Florida and they have known to settle themselves at the musical front for the past fourteen years. To stay in for such a while you cannot do without quality. And that definitely can be said of Less Than Jake. It is not for nothing that their name is on the soundtrack pf games as ‘Tony Hawk’s Undergound 2’ and ‘Gran Turismo 4’.
‘In With The Out Crowd’ is, just as previous releases, dull of cheerful punkrock with some ska influences. However, where a band as Reel Big Fish has given the ska a lot of space, the trombone and saxophone are never that present with Less Than Jake, which make the melodic punkrock prevail the most. The cd is being opened with ‘Soundtrack Of My Life’, which can go into the book as a punkrock anthem. Songs as ‘Landmines And Landslides’ en ‘Overrated (Everything Is)’ seamless can join up. The Rest Of My Life’, ‘P.S. Shock The World’ and ‘A Still Life Franchise’ are songs on which the ska influences are bigger, but not without letting go off the melodic punk rock. It gives the cd a lot of diversity and freshness and will it make it worthwhile for its’ full length for the punkrock lover. The production by Howard Benson, known from his P.O.D.’s ‘Satellite’ en My Chemical Romance’s ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’, guarantees a good, accessible, but smooth sound.
They who like punkrock bands as als Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard and Rancid, will have a nice addition to their collection with ‘In With The Out Crowd’.
