Babylon Mystery Orchestra - The Great Apostasy: A Conspiracy Of Satanic Christianity Self-financed file under gothic metal
Twan: Overwhelming and impressive! Those are just a few of the terms that enter my mind when listening to the music that Babylon Mystery Orchestra makes.
The very bombastic, industrial gothic, that reminds me of bands like Laibach is very well performed, up to perfection... and to my big surprise, we are dealing with something self-financed here! 'The Great Apostasy: A Conspiracy Of Satanic Christianity' is about the degeneration of the church; how the church has become that what it has always opposed. This is done by using lyrics that stand for something, quotes from the bible and very atmospheric and solid music. And to underline it once again, this really sounds like Laibach. The voice of the singer is almost a perfect match, but the rest of the music as well.
From the first sound to when the last tones die away, this album manages to capture you. The calm, pounding beats, the drums, the guitars are all cleverly balanced and know to offer enough diversity through recited texts, calm and aggressive songs alike. The production is, remarkably enough, excellent. A must-have!
