The soundtrack for something like that of course does not fit on one single disc, and that is why Rosetta uses two. You will not find any lyrics in the beautiful booklet by Aaron Turner (Hydrahead). Just this one sentence: “These songs are about a spaceman”. Well what can I add to that? However, I would still like to say a few things about ‘The Galilean Satellites’. For example that places Rosetta in one big bang next to genre icons as Isis and Cult Of Luna. Also I think the band as well as their label deserve a big pat on the shoulder for the courage they show with releasing this debut double CD. The music can best be described as a supersonic space journey, in which especially the feeling of utter loneliness is well expressed by the synths and other electronics. Also the weight of the gigantic planets that almost run into each other is heard through the colossal guitar riffs. The first CD gives room for one of the best post hardcore records I heard this year, the second one is even more experimental and consists of all kinds of bleeps and synths that are regularly referred to as soundscapes or atmospherical parts. I heard the rumor that you could play both records at the same time, but I personally thought it was not a big success. The first record is just so wonderfully ‘finished’, I did not need any additional bleeps to the already very broad sound. The production is great, the atmosphere superb. A new star has found its way into our galaxy!
