Summon - Fallen
Moribund Records

file under speed / thrash metal

Summon - FallenRichard G.: Fast, faster, fastest, SUMMON!!! The title for most furious raging thrash passages of the year is well- earned by these Americans. Once you have heard ‘Blood Red Skies’, you think that the pace limit has been reached, you think the same after the title song has ended, and when closing track ‘Beating Of Christ’ has ended you just know for sure that humans cannot play any faster (that is until the next Summon album appears, probably). Luckily they’re not all about the same fast pace, because they know how to control their velocity very well; it doesn’t get all messy and difficult to follow. What is a bit problematic at first is hearing the differences between the songs (although I must say that this becomes easier when you have heard it more often), the only song that catches the ear immediately is the not only fast, but brilliantly swinging ‘Loud As Hell, Fast As Fuck’, that sounds like Motörhead on speed AND amphetamines. Assuming that the record will grow on you even more, this black thrash album deserves a more than sufficient mark. Buy this one!
