Dennis: The most disgusting thing on the gory album cover of Catafalc is the dirty long black and yellow fingernail on the thumb of the man with the pincers. The dead body, wrapped up in shrink wrap, looks battered, but is all but shocking. Catafalc is an unsigned band from Estland, that releases their selffinanced debut album “Pain Performance”. The death metal of this band is much like a bulldozer. Just listen to the opening track “Masturbate with Gun”, an you know what I mean. Catafalc play quite simple, but ultra heavy death metal which is quite an easy listen. The band draws influences from both the US and European death metal scene and the result is an enjoyable set of songs. Catafalc are not an original band, but at least their music shreds.
