Grave - Fiendish Regression Century Media file under death metal / grindcore
Monique: Very strange indeed. I am absolutely certain this is the first time I have listened to this album, yet it feels as comfortable as a good old pair of worn down jeans. The mid-tempo aggression is relentless, and it is further enhanced by a couple of up-tempo outbursts and noticeable catchy riffs. Making this a fresh, yet traditional death metal album. Opening track ‘Last Journey’ sets the pace, and via songs such as ‘Awakening’ and the groovy ‘Trail by Fire’ we arrive at powerful ‘Heretic’ to close things off. Not quite 40 minutes, nine tracks, but endless enjoyment A limited initial edition of ‘Fiendish Regression’ is available for those early buyers, including two bonus tracks and a special slipcase packaging, so do not wait too long. Grave used to record at Sunlight Studios, but for this album they teamed up with Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studios, with good result. Thos album can be discussed at length, but that does in no way alter the only possible conclusion: this is a great album. A European tour is planned for this autumn, so that is something to look forward to. Rating: 87/100 (details)
