Trust - A L’Olympa (DVD/Video)
XIII Bis Records

file under heavy / power metal

Trust - A L’OlympaSjak: This ‘A L’Olympia’ is the DVD version of the double live album that was reviewed last month and I must say that it has become a very nice looking package. Besides both live CDs you will find two DVDs in the digipack, with the complete Olympia show from the fourth of December 2007 on the first disc. The gig is very nicely filmed and we can’t complain about the execution of the songs either. I’m still not in favor of adding a DJ to the line-up, but this will remain a matter of personal taste I guess.

The second silver disc with footage is even more interesting for me, since it contains the legendary Rockpalast concert dating from the fifth of June 1982. Finally I can throw away my already decomposed video-tape and watch this mighty fine show in excellent quality. It was a truly great gig that these French guys played that night! They had just started to build a name for themselves outside of French territory and had released a hell of a metal album with ‘Marche Ou Creve’ just a year before. No funny DJ-stuff, but a great five piece metal outfit with a very solid rhythm section (Yves Brusco and Nicko McBrain - the latter name does ring a bell somewhere?), two excellent guitar players (Moho Chemlekh and Norbert Krief, of which the latter showcases his capabilities by playing several great solos) and a very sharp singer Bernie Bonvoisin, which shouts the society critical lyrics with pure venom from his lungs. Breathtaking!

Of course the Olympia show is the main topic of this package, but for an old prick like me the Rockpalast performance is truly superior. Because of this great extra footage and the addition of the visuals from the Olympia show, this package deserves a couple of extra points in the score compared to the last month reviewed CD version.
