Naughty Boys - Destiny CallsArco: One, two…one, two, three, four!! And off goes Naughty Boys on their third album called ‘Destiny Calls’. What a banger! I put on my headphones and was blown away by this new record of these four guys from Sweden. Four indeed because bass player Robert Norberg has left and they are in search of a substitute.

Their last album, ‘R. U. Naughty Enough’ from 2007, sounded really good but not steady. Like Micke Sandvik’s singing, that was not always that strong. On this third one he sounds a lot better, not yet a top singer (listen to the easy song ‘Eternity’) but convincing. Their last album already had some good, catchy songs, and how they did it I do not know (yet), but on this one all the songs are complete and sound great. Heavy guitars (Hasse ‘Hans’ Olsson), a pumping bass (Robert Norberg) and advanced drums (Jonas Ludwigson). This combined with catchy melodies, supported by strong chores and keyboards (Morgan Valentine) and finished by a strong production makes ‘Destiny Calls’ a true jewel. The musical preferences of the guys; Guns & Roses, AC/DC, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Pink Cream 69, Ratt and Gotthard. And you can hear that! A shame our countrymen Sleeze Beez are not mentioned but in any case you know where to refer on.

‘Destiny Calls’ has no fillers en it has almost no weak moments, all eleven good is the thing here. My favourites are opener, the bouncing ‘Destiny Calls’, the grand ‘Endless Pain’, the beautifully arranged ‘Don’t Turn Around’, the stomping ‘Light Of The Day’, the massive ‘Runaway Train’ and closer, the vivacious ‘Fly With The Angels’. With Destiny Calls Naughty Boys translates sophisticated the 80’s rock sound to the 21st century and combines ‘sleaze’ with ‘hard rock’ in a perfect way. Heavily recommended! I will play it once again, and again…
