Koen: Avenger from the Czech Republic is not to be confused with the English speed metal band that released ‘Blood Sports’ and ‘Killer Elite’ back in the Eighties or the German band who brought to life the ‘Prayers Of Steel’ album in 1984 and changed their name to Rage or the other bands that go by the same name. Avenger was formed in 1992 and released three full-lengths: ‘Shadows Of The Damned’ (1998), ‘Fall Of Devotion, Wrath And Blasphemy (1999) and ‘Godless : Assuming The Throne Of Immortality (2003) and a live album entitled ‘Live At Open Hell Fest 2003’ so far.
As you can see, there’s a hiatus in time between the previous CD and the new one. Unfortunately I can’t explain this but I guess this is explainable because Avenger’s main man Honza Kapák owns a studio called HellSound. He is a guest musician on drums and guitars on many releases that were recorded there. ‘Feast Of Anger…’ has become an overnight black metal sensation which will mostly attract Master’s Hammer and Celtic Frost (‘Into The Pandemonium’ era) addicts, because the elaborated black metal tracks are combined with kettledrums which gives an unbelievable sound.
Words can’t describe this great CD. I just love the band and their songs. I believe this will be one of 2009’s most highly anticipated black metal CD’s and I suppose it will be hard to beat this one music wise, sound wise, song wise and melody wise. An utterly incredible CD!
