Patrick: It sure it not easy to get some proper attention these days; the amount of bands presenting themselves at MySpace seems incessant. You definitely have to pull some streaks. It made the Brazilian band Rising cross decide to offer their EP as a free download. Not really shocking for more bands have been doing so, but hey, music is made so others can listen to it. But when they offer me some free liverwurst at the local supermarket, I do not accept the gift. For how free things can be, it at least has to be normally digestive.
Fortunately you can accept this Brazilian offer without any worries. The three songs (I do not count the intro) at ‘Trumpets Of Victory’ are full of heavy metal wit hall the characteristics present: the at moments powerful, fast rhythms, supported by a heavy bass and likewise drumming, the dual guitar parts and the high vocals. Especially the vocals by Paulo Melo are a pleasant surprise. The music holds some (minor) similarities with Grave Digger (but less raw), Fates Warning (but without the progressive elements), Rob Rock and fellow country men Eterna. And those last two are not only mentioned because of their musical resemblances but also because of the lyrical content.
This ‘Trumpets Of Victory’ may not be overwhelming but is worth a listen. So no hesitation and grab this gift from the band. It can be downloaded for free at the MySpace of the band.
