Kim: Since this Finnish band changed its name from Restless into SaraLee, I hope this name will give no confusions or legal issues with any overseas successors, because of the famous American SaraLee concern. First of all I can say that ‘Damnation To salvation’ is a dynamic album with, on occasion for the sake of variation, some epic passages, but in totally it sounds a little bit docile. Even though openers ‘Scars’ and ‘Forsaken’ let us hear a glimpse of the best side of the album; namely because of the rough music that’s hanging in between metal and rock, but still it will give no guarantee for success.
I still miss a sensual side in the voice of singer Joonas; perhaps he can have more success with a sexy live appearance? The task for this band will be; can SaraLee measure one’s strength with other Finnish rockers like HIM, Entwine, The 69 Eyes and Blinded Rain? For me it feels like this band is not showing a “totally go for it” and that’s one thing you have to do if you really want to break some hearts of some young HIM fans. With only a cool handsome look, black eyeliner and easy sing-a-long songs you won’t make it; being unique and a having a deep, sexy voice that are some sureties for having some success in the gothic rock world. These conditions are still missing…
