Teardown - Cyanotic (Demo) Self-financed file under gothic metal
Kim: Finnish Teardown, already existing since spring 2001, can be described as a heavy gothic rock band. The heavy part of this band is especially due to the singing of female singer Katja. Despite the fact that this demo only contains three songs, it can be measured with for example the likes of Flowing Tears, Morning, Autumn or Naio Ssaion. This demo includes some promo material that describes Teardown as a body that’s turned into a cyanotic state. In this trilogy the three tracks together form a part of a human body being in an inhuman state; for instance, ‘All Should Be Gone’ pictures the collapse of the larynx, ‘Prisoner’ deals with the lack of oxygen and ‘Solitude’ deals with the unpleasant slow, but fatal bleeding through the corpse’s mouth. One would almost suspect the band of having either medics or a bunch of death metal maniacs on board…
In totally the implementation of this demo is not bad at all, but there’s no refreshment at all; there are too many moments of crumble downs. I do not blame Katja for this, because she shows her qualities in a great way; she’s using her voice in three different modes (sweet, spicy and melancholic). The music is not heavy at all; no cruel guitar sounds and massive drum beating, but everything is played in the same intonation. Too bad, because the demo sounds like the band has the capabilities to deliver the goods in the right way to put some more depth into their music. If you still want to hear some songs of Teardown you can download ‘All Should Be gone’ from this demo and songs from former demos on their official website. Rating: 71/100 (details)
