Roel F.: The melodic sound from the high North is alive and kicking, and this is proven by Nacom, a six man formation from Italy. One guitar player gets his inspiration from Children Of Bodom, the other from Dimmu Borgir. The dominant influence, though, is Dark Tranquility, hands down.
With ‘My Tomb, Nacom proliferates itself as a more progressive version of the Swedes, with more keys, that is. The result is a heavy sound interlaced with a more than adequate dose of melody, either through keyboards, the riffs, and usually, both. It is not spectacularly new or utterly impressive, but that does not mean that there is nothing good to be found here. There is, but ‘My Tomb’ will probably appeal most to those who cannot get enough of the Swedish sound.
