Kim: If we are to believe Ancestral Legacy it has been very quiet around them after the release of their promo release ‘Goodbye Reality’ in 2004. At that time the former drummer decided to leave the band and it was very hard to find a suitable replacement. Also recording all fourteen songs for a new CD wasn’t that easy. Finally they founded a rescue angel; Knut Magne Valle, guitarist of Arcturnus, who helped the hopeless band outside their cave. With this, fifteen tracks were ready for the full-length debut album, but at the last moment Ancestral Legacy decided to put out a demo with just five songs on it. The main reason for that is to spread their name a bit more first.

I listened like ten times to the demo, but it doesn’t attract me at all. It was hard to listen to all five songs, because the music does not touch me; I don’t like the brute screams, the sometimes unaffected voice of Elin and the boring, chaotic (gothic/ black metal) sound. The only thing I like about this demo is ‘Atrapada En Pesadillas’, because of the graceful voice of guest singer Isadora Cortina.

During the promotion of ‘Trapped Within The Words’ the band wants to find a label which will offer them a reasonable record deal. They hope to be signed this year, so they can release the full-length album ‘Nightmare Diaries’. I wish them a lot of success finding a label, because I think it will be hard for Ancestral Legacy to become popular in Scandinavia. I don’t think they will fit in the lively dark metal culture of Norway.
