Nima: Sweden’s Grave of course need no introduction and every soul with a bit knowledge of death metal knows that this band stood at the cradle of true Swedish death metal and together with bands like Entombed, Unleashed and Dismember belongs to the top of this genre.
Having released a couple of slightly different albums like ‘Soulless’ and ‘Hating Life’, the band is totally back on track with the 2002 album ‘Back From The Grave’ and again strikes back powerfully with this eight album! De opening track ‘A World Of Darkness’ may set you on the wrong foot at the beginning due to it’s long mid-tempo part, but when they blast away with ‘Fallen (Angel Son)’ after that, you simply know that this is another typical Grave-art. All the elements that make this band so damned great are again present. The ultra heavy guitars, pounding drums, threatening mid-tempo tunes, the graven vocals of Ola Lindgren and the simple, yet genially catchy song structures and especially the combination of it all makes Grave to what it is and what this album is richly supplied with. The nine tracks on this album are all of a high quality and although none of it is renewing or unique, the album sounds varied and more importantly, trustfully familiar. This is exactly what attracted me to this type of music year ago.
Actually this whole review is superfluous, because this is simply a fantastic Grave album, on which the line of the previous three albums is set though. And although this is not a second ‘Into The Grave’, it’s the kind of album that every Grave fan, and fans of death metal in general, must have.
