Erik: Swedish power grind with a crust edge to it is the way to describe Von Bööm . The twelve songs are a fierce expression of a band active since 1984. Time does not weaken them I hear! The songs are sung in Swedish, like it should in the punk from over there, and the sound is greasy, dirty and hard. Great parts in the songs and worth listening to. Just listen to the guitar in ‘Piller’, a great variation on the raging strings in the other songs. Von Bööm is a band of little words and great deeds.

This is totally different with Motorbreath. Whether this name is again inspired by the Metallica song, is a mystery, but this is not the first band calling themselves this. The sound on their recording is thin and lacks aggression. The six songs are promising, but miss that edge I can hear on the Von Bööm songs. And that’s a shame. They now totally get snowed under by Von Bööm. Not a bad release but the quality between bands is rather extreme that I caught myself wishing for a Von Bööm full-length. http://www.myspace.com/themotorbreathband
