Winston: Ayreon and Tobias Sammet already delivered great so-called ‘rock opera’s’ this year and now the Serbian guitarist Srdjan Brankovic, of local fame of the band Alogia, follows with his ‘starstudded’ project. Maybe of a bit less know bands but not for the fans of the progressive genre; we meet Gary Wehrkamp of Shadow Gallery, Sabine Edelsbacher of Edenbridge, Richard Andersson of Time Requiem and Erik Norlander of Rocket Scientists among others. Less pretentious than the previously mentioned rock opera creators but nonetheless very interesting.
The music wiggles between prog rock and metal and that keeps it nicely varied. There are even some AOR touches audible (TNT for example in ‘Move On’) and tracks like these keep the album nicely going. Brankovic created room for all participants and by doing that the album stands as a solid whole. Production is great a rich and full sound, lots of effects and guitars and great vocal work. There is a basis band who gives room to the special guests and singer Nikola Mijic, who sings the majority of the songs, is one of the stars on the album. I think that we can welcome a nice surprise to this years’ harvest and I truly hope that we have gained a new continuous project here.
