Striborg - Trepidation (Re-release) Displeased Records file under black/pagan metal
Roel F.: Darn! After having written some not completely unkind words about Striborg, I am immediately stuck with writing a review on the re-release of ‘Trepidation.’ It could consist of just one word (a big fat ‘NO!’) but maybe there is some more to be said here, although not in h favourable terms.
Everything that makes listening to Striborg a complete and utter torture is more than represented on this album. As always, the titles are hackneyed to no end, with pearls like ‘Winter Frost, Hail, and Snowfall’ and ‘Dismal Snow Set In The Sombre Forests.’ Next to a guitar that sounds like a horny swarm of bees armed with water proof My First Sony keyboards, we also have a drum computer that sounds as if somebody programmed it by accident. The beat is out of time with the rest of the music. As for the vocals, well they reverberate all over the place and when the high-pitched singing is brought into play, it is no longer possible to take ‘Trepidation’ serious. Words cannot describe this tripe. It is just that worthless. Probably I do not get Striborg or the hypnotising qualities of non-music, but please, do avoid this. Rating: 15/100 (details)
