Richard G.: Normally a band from the Czech Republic entails an unbelievably rancid form of gore metal, porno grind or something along those lines. Though not Cales, the solo project of the ex-frontman of the most important Czech black metal band Root. Cales gives us a completely instrumental pagan metal album.

The guitar melodies are at the centre of the record and quite pleasantly so. The simplistic drumming patterns and the unnatural keyboard sound are not that enjoyable. Some of the riffs are also a bit too rock/AOR oriented and not metal enough. Yet, with a bit of imagination some songs conjure the same kind of picture as a band like Falkenbach can: quiet, stately midtempo compositions that makes you feel in and at one with nature.
