Roel de Haan: Dark/black metal band Lyfthrasyr comes with their second album called ‘The Recent Foresight’. Although they’re an unknown (at least to me) band they sound very experienced and professional. The playing is technical and extremely tight, for which I compliment the excellent drummer. Stylistically one could describe them as a extreme cross-breeding between Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh and Dimmu Borgir.

The technicality of this band gives the whole a death metal edge to it. Backdrops of keyboards and piano melodies provide a melodic backbone to the fierce metal full of speed changes, breaks and screams. Death metal extremity and symphonic black meet convincingly in ‘The Recent Foresight’. If you can handle the many twists and turns this one is for you.
