Demiricous - Two (Poverty) Metal Blade file under Speed / Thrash metal
Tormentor Erich: Sometimes things in life happen that seem to be too unrealistic to be true. Take for example the Dutch football club S.C. Heerenveen. This certain day they loose in a European competition with 5–1, and three days later they win in the Dutch league with 9-0. How is this possible? Is it because of this one new player? Is it because of the changes in the training? Were they told that they would earn less money if they would loose again? Who knows? And besides all this, what has it got to do with the new album from Demiricous? Well, if the first album from Demiricous can be compared to that European match from Heerenveen, then this new album can be compared with that second match of Heerenveen.
‘Two’ rams and batters just like a sonic boom. This is how firm metal must be made! But is it because of the new singer who goes very deep? Is it because of the strong and guitar orientated production by Erik Rutan? Is it because of the inner aggression that the band members had because of all the shitty jobs they have done in order to get this album out? Or is it because of the many touring that the band has done, and in the meantime this created a tight band with a firm identity of their own? Who knows?
The fact is simple: Demiricous released a good and tight album. An old fashioned war dance, a bit of punk, sometimes a little bit of Kataklysm styled death metal, and a lot of Slayer styled thrash, it is all on this album and it all sounds good. ‘Two’ (forty minutes of music split up over twelve songs) is an album that I can recommend to everyone who likes his metal a bit harder.
