When did you start playing guitar/bass/keys/drums?
I started playing drums at the age of nine. Then I then switched to guitar at the age of twelve. My father was really the one who got me into music at a very early age.
On which piece of gear do you keep your most beautiful memories and why?
I have lots of gear and guitars but one that I cherish the most is a classical guitar that used to belong to my father. He passed away a few years ago so it is nice to play it every so often, brings back nice memories.
Do you have an endorsment deal or a signature model? If so, could you tell us a little bit more about it?
Yes! I have been using and endorsing Schecter Guitars exclusively for the last ten years. I have some awesome Signature Jeff Loomis Guitars, my favorite being the JL-7 FR. For more info go to Schecter Guitars.
What was your worst purchase ever and why?
My worst purchase? Haha, probably one of the first cheap electric guitars my Dad bought me. I can’t remember the name of the guitar but the action was terrible and it sounded very bad, then again that could have just been my playing at the time.
Who are your influences (musicians)?
Jason Becker, Marty Friedman and Yngwie Malmsteen are three of my faves. The list goes on and on really. I try not to limit myself to what I listen to. I really love classical music and I am also a big fan of 70’s progressive music.
What was your first guitar/bass/keys/drums?
My very first guitar was a Peavey T-15. It was a smaller size student guitar and even had a small amplifier built right into the case!
What is on your wish list?
That I can play, compose and tour until the day I die.
Ultimate goal as a musician?
Probably to always better myself as a musician. Try to be diverse with what you listen to and always try to learn something new every day. Life is short…make the most out of it!
