Last weekend, at the Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) festival in northern Germany, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and SAVATAGE wowed 80,000-plus attendees with a never-before-attempted music festival performance. Following a 40-minute Savatage set and a 40-minute TSO set, TSO and Savatage band members, across two of the festival's main stages, performed a perfectly coordinated set of fan-favorites. This ambitious feat, both musically and logistically, was helmed by Paul O'Neill. Al Pitrelli led TSO on the "True Metal Stage" and Jon Oliva headed Savatage on the "Black Stage." Beyond the unprecedented act of two bands hitting the stage at the same time, this show was also memorable as it marked progressive metal originators Savatage's first show in over a decade, TSO's first European festival show, as well as the only live appearances of both bands in Europe in 2015.

TRIVIUM have announced the release of their seventh album. Silence In The Snow - which follows 2013's Vengeance Falls - arrives in stores and at digital retailers on October 2nd via Roadrunner Records. The genesis of the record's title track dates back to a 2007 run supporting Heaven and Hell in Japan. "When I watched them live, it was something that really spoke to me, especially the song "Heaven And Hell"," recalls frontman Matt Heafy. "I'd never heard metal summarized so well like that. Afterwards, I came up with "Silence In The Snow". We loved the song, but it just didn't fit with the music we were making at the time. The reason was, perhaps, we weren't ready for it. We foreshadowed our destiny back then, and we've finally grown into the song. It required massive musical growth, and we're ready now."

The new CHASTAIN album 'We Bleed Metal' will be released worldwide on November 6th. It will be released on both Cd and Vinyl as well as all digital formats. Guitarist David T. Chastain states, "This is a continuation of the 'Surrender To No One' sound with hopefully some improvements all the way around. Leather has never sounded better and I believe this is my most shredtastic CHASTAIN lead guitar playing since "The 7th of Never' era." Drummer Stian Kristoffersen (Pagan's Mind) and Bassist Mike Skimmerhorn return once again to complete the lineup. For more info go to Leviathan Records. In related news, CJSS has just announced that they will be performing one reunion show at Bogart's in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 9th. CJSS stands for the band members names: David T. Chastain- Guitar, Russell Jinkens- Vocals, Guitar, Mike Skimmerhorn- Bass, Vocals, Les Sharp- Drums. In the late 80s the band released 2 Metal gems: 'World Gone Mad' and 'Praise the Loud.' The band use to regularly sellout Bogart's on a monthly basis and this show is something that most fans never thought they would see again. It is being booked as "Metal Forever!! One Last Time." This show is not to be missed if you live in the Tri-state area. Tickets have just went on sale! Buy early to be sure you get in!! The CHASTAIN albums 'Surrender To No One' and the new 'We Bleed Metal' as well as the FIREWIND masterpiece 'Burning Earth' will be released in Vinyl format later in the year on Pure Steel Records. The CHASTAIN classic albums 'The 7th of Never' and 'The Voice of the Cult' were recently reissued on Cd by Divebomb/Tribunal Records. These reissues were nicely redone with new mastering, packaging, interviews, old reviews and more.

It is with great regret that ELUVEITIE have to announce the departure of their violin player Nicole Ansperger. They have enjoyed a wonderful year of adventures with Nicole, circling the globe and completing the first part of the »Origins« world tour together - their biggest, longest and most successful one yet. ELUVEITIE comment: “Unfortunately, it can be extremely difficult to manage personal obligations and take care of a family alongside a life of constant touring, and Nicole’s priorities are with her family - where they should be. We are parting amicably and would like to thank Nicole for the good times and her musical contribution. It’s been an honour to share stage and studio with such a talented musician!“ Nicole would like to add a few words herself: “Dear fans, as mentioned before, it can become pretty difficult to reconcile personal obligations and the touring life. A lot of things have changed within my family and my personal situation during the last twelve months; and now my familial situation makes it impossible to me to be on the road with my band constantly. After careful consideration and with a heavy and bleeding heart I made the desicion to leave ELUVEITIE. I was a very hard step to me and I will miss ELUVEITIE - the music, the band, the crew and very much also YOU, the fans! I wanna thank you all - you‘ve been the best fans of the world to me! You rock, you‘ve been wonderful and I won‘t forget you! Also I‘d like to thank my mates in ELUVEITIE - thank you for the amazing and intense time we had together! Yo‘`ll always be in my remembrance! I wish you all the very best for your future ways and of course I wish you a awesome new fiddle player. :) This certainly doesn‘t mean an end to my musical career. Music will always be a very important part of my life and who knows - maybe we‘ll see each other again one day.
Keep on rockin‘, guys & girls!“
Now, the show must go on, and as you might know ELUVEITIE are about to kick off another part of their world tour in early September. Nicole’s last show with the band will take place at the In Extremo Festival on September 5th, 2015. Starting right now, they are looking for a talented violin player to step in and complete three months of touring with them, from September 7th to December 15th, 2015. This is no easy task, and the band will only consider the best of the best in order to bring you the ELUVEITIE show they are known for and proud of. If you think, you’ve got what it takes, the band invites you to take this chance and submit your entry in their first ever round of open auditions. Taking part is simple, getting the gig might be the challenge (and chance) of your life! To enter, simply:

1. Download this MP3 of their song 'King', if you don’t have it yet:
2. Record a video of yourself performing the song, making sure that the band can both see you and clearly hear your performance!
3. Upload your video to and send the link to, and don’t forget to include detailed contact info!

Deadline for all submissions is Thursday, August 6th, at midnight Central European Time. Ideally, you will be a very talented musician with touring experience, as well as located in or near Switzerland. However, participation in this audition is open to all! Please note that due to the high volume of submissions the band expects, ELUVEITIE might not be able to reply to everyone personally. They will reply to you with follow-up questions within a few days if you’ve made it into the second round. Either way, the band is looking forward to view your performances and would like to thank you in advance for participating!

The American Power Metal-band TRAUMA announced this week that guitarist Jeff Jones (founding member of the metal rock act “ST. MOURNING BELOVETH have confirmed that they are working on a new album, to be released this coming winter via Ván Records. The Irish heavyweights are putting the finishing touches to the writing of the 50+ minute opus which will be recorded at Skyhammer Studio in September. The album, which will be titled Rust & Bone, is the follow up to 2013’s Formless. The band commented:
"Joining one of the most eclectic, exciting rosters in today's scene is another shot in the arm for us as we circle 20 years of existence. Mourning Beloveth look forward to working with Ván Records, the first fruits of which will appear later this year. Rust & Bone, our sixth album, takes us on a half journey between everywhere and nowhere, from our very core to the coldest star. As such, the process started with what was our original organic experiment, Formless. Expanding, contracting. A headlong dive into the very DNA of the Mourning Beloveth multiverse while simultaneously extracting the essence, the ideal of what makes us tick. If, of course, you can escape the Mantle Tomb intact..." The album release will coincide with a European tour with Hooded Menace, finishing up at the legendary Eindhoven Metal Meeting. The band will also be playing a Halloween show in Dublin on October 30 - "Fires of Samhain:Intium", with Destroyer 666, Necros Christos, Dead Congregation and more - where they will play Formless in full, to mark the end of that album's life cycle, before unleashing their new offering. MOURNING BELOVETH have notched up five full-length releases in their 23 year history - once described as "both malevolently evil and bizarrely beautiful, a balancing act of some consummate skill" by Kerrang! magazine - as well as gaining a reputation for evocative and at times sombre live performances.

OBESE just released a brand new videoclip. The song "Red As The Sun" is taken from the album 'Kali Yuga' released by Argonauta Records in June 2015 on CD/DD. OBESE hail from Holland, they are authors of a crunchy, catchy, powerful and above all heavy as hell sound! Bringing the groove back into stoner and feeding your appetite with fat tunes that will leave you hungry for more. The weight and thickness of sound is being explored one track at a time: corpulency never felt that good. The immense riffage in a vast landscape of bulldozing euphony will leave nobody unsatisfied.

THE 69 EYES secretly returned to the studio to record a new biting opus for the hungy masses with producer Johnny Lee Michaels, who already was responsible for the recordings of »Blessed Be« and »Paris Kills«. Vocalist Jyrki 69 reveals: “Dear Helsinki vampires loyalists, how's your summer been? I've been thinking of you a lot lately. Especially in the nights...- in the studio. You see, we are currently in the studio recording our new album here in Helsinki. It's coming out really good, feels like a record I've always wanted us to do. A bit hard to explain but you will hear it soon! If you happened to like those albums,we’ve made earlier with Johnny, you will love this new one, too. The first single will come out later on this year and the album in early 2016. August moon - where are you...?“ Only a few months ago, THE 69 EYES released »The Best Of Helsinki Vampires«, a full best-of collection, spanning a quarter of a century of band history, featuring 28 tracks in total. GENTLEMANS PISTOLS have been causing a stir on the underground for a while now with their debauched lyrics, melodic groove and general Yorkshire rock 'n' roll swagger. Formed as a three-piece back in 2003, the band has gone through a variety of line-up changes throughout their career and has now stabilized as a four-piece and is prepared to unleash their magnum opus through Nuclear Blast this autumn. The band comments: "GENTLEMANS PISTOLS are very pleased to announce the upcoming release of their third album, »Hustler‘s Row«, on Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded by singer/guitarist James Atkinson at Mutiny Studios in Bradford and reflects nearly five years of experience for the band: good times, bad times, boredom, exhilaration, heartache, frustration and wonder. With this album, we tried to make a record that we would want to listen to; one that was heavy but melodic, intense but catchy, thoughtful but unruly. A record for reprobates and romantics, for gentlemen and hustlers.ˮ GENTLEMANS PISTOLS‘ last album »At Her Majesty's Pleasure« was released to great acclaim in 2011, the band has performed at UK and international festivals such as Desertfest, Hammerfest, Long Division and Fuji Rock festival in Japan previously toured with the likes of WITCHCRAFT, LEAF HOUND and PENTAGRAM.

Hot on the heels of the announcement of Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins and Jesse Hughes comes the next round of stars for the forthcoming epic loud and dark fairytale "Gutterdämmerung".
First up to face the hounds of hell is Ian Fraser Kilmister, better known as the legendary MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy, whose comment about the film is: "If you don't like it…fuck off!"
Joining Lemmy will be the leader of the most beautifully brutal and punishingly precise band on the planet, SLAYER's Tom Araya. Lemmy will play a crazed general leading the "Armour Cavalry" during a dark explosive moment for the two heroines of "Gutterdämmerung". As a mysterious messenger of darkness, Tom Araya will be "bringing the light" by setting the silver screen on fire with a truly primal performance. Even more stars are to be announced in the coming weeks leading up to the big reveal of "Gutterdämmerung"'s earth-shaking cinema trailer. "Gutterdämmerung" is a new rock 'n' roll / film / gig concept from the mind of Belgian-Swedish visual artist Björn Tagemose. "Gutterdämmerung" is part rock show part immersive cinema experience featuring some of the biggest rock names on the planet. Much in the tradition of classic movies of 1920s Hollywood, the film is mostly silent but instead of a lone piano a live rock band of rock express the emotions and action whilst special effects from the film explode to life all around the audience. Think of a deafening rock 'n' roll version of Secret Cinema taking place in hell and you might just begin to have an idea of what "Gutterdämmerung" is. Tagemose has assembled the greatest cast in the history of rock movies; Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins (who co-wrote "Gutterdämmerung"'s script) and EAGLES OF DEATH METAL's Jesse Hughes are just the first names to be announced with more truly legendary rock 'n' roll names to be revealed in the coming weeks. This spectacular film will tour with its live band and a live narrator at the end of 2015/early 2016. The visual artists whom have worked on "Gutterdämmerung" boast clients from Vogue to Louis Vuitton to Vanity Fair, giving the film a look and feel of the classic arts, beauty and high-end fashion. The film is set in a world where God has saved the world from sin by taking from mankind the Devil's "Grail of Sin"… the Evil Guitar. The Earth has now turned into a puritan world where there is no room for sex, drugs or rock 'n' roll. From up on high in heaven a "punk-angel," Vicious (portrayed by Iggy Pop), looks upon the world with weary bored eyes. Behind God's back, Vicious sends the Devil's guitar back to earth and sin in all its forms returns to mankind. An evil puritan priest (Henry Rollins) manipulates a naive girl to retrieve the guitar and destroy it. On her quest to find the Devil's Grail Of Sin, the girl is forced to face the world's most evil rock and roll bastards. Throughout her journey, she has a rival in the form of a rock chick determined to stop her from destroying the instrument. Björn Tagemose is a Belgian-Swedish director and visual artist. He is mainly active in the arts and the rock and fashion industry. He is also the founder of the artist collective "shoottheartist." Björn Tagemose's artwork is part of the permanent collection of the famous Groeninghe Museum in Bruges and has been on show in the Paris Louvre, FOMU Antwerp and Stockholm Kulturhuset. Shamelessly playing loud rock music even when working for posh fashionistas, Björn Tagemose has throughout Europe earned the nickname "the rock and roll director."

Ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland and his band THE WILDABOUTS have cancelled their previously announced European tour in September/October with the exception of the show in London, England at The Garage on September 3. A statement from the group reads as follows: "Scott and the band, along with management, want the fans to know that this decision was not made lightly, but as it stood, the tour dates had far too many administration and production issues to overcome, and ultimately the fan experience would have been far below what Scott feels his loyal fans deserve. Again, we apologize to our fans and appreciate their understanding in this matter."

Motley Crue guitarist MICK MARS says he feels like "the most unpopular person on the planet" - but he aims to change that with his solo career. He insists he has a lot to prove once the veterans bow out with their final show on New Year's Eve. And his first releases are likely to be an album and a book that focuses on his own take on his career, following 2001 Crue bestseller The Dirt. Mars tells Classic Rock's Dave Ling: "It'll be a hard rock record, but it's tough to categorise. It's not metal. It'll make your hair fly back in the breeze." He says of the book: "It won't be anything like The Dirt. After 30 years of being suppressed, I'm going to be bringing out a lot of shit."
