STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have found an unlikely replacement for their much troubled singer Scott Weiland, who exited the band he founded, without much sadness of the remaining members[/b]. The spot from now on will be taken by LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington. Bennington is a very wide orientated singer, who is not always taken as seriously as he should, due to the popularity of his own band. The band already announced that the new singer had to be someone famous who helps selling concert tickets, which is exactly the accusation Scott Weiland made on the bands decision to kick him out.
Longtime URIAH HEEP bassist Trevor Bolder has died of cancer at the age of 62. Bolder joined HEEP in 1976 as the replacement for John Wetton and made his recording debut with the band on 1977's "Firefly" LP. He played on three more albums before joining WISHBONE ASH. In 1983, he returned to URIAH HEEP and has appeared on all of the band's studio albums since then, including their most recent outing, 2011's "Into The Wild".

Heres an education our staff should ace, even easier than studying Dutch at the University of Tokyo: New College Nottingham (NCN) which is said to be one of the largest further education colleges in the U.K. is offering a two-year degree in heavy metal music. The course was developed over a seven-month period by Liam Maloy, a lecturer in music performance at NCN, who describes the class as "academically rigorous." Joe Elliott (DEF LEPPARD), Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER), Matt Sorum (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER), Gilby Clarke (GUNS N' ROSES), Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL) and Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW) have called for an end to bear bile farming in Asia in a new video produced for Animals Asia. Bear bile farming sees more than 10,000 bears mainly moon bears kept on bile farms in China, and around 2,400 in Vietnam. The bears are milked regularly for their bile, which is used in traditional medicine. Matt Sorum is now an official ambassador for Animals Asia, which by the way is an American organization.
The very successful Rock N' Roll Heaven and the Old Bridge Metal Militia reunion concert and fundraiser, spearheaded by co-creators Jon and Marsha Zazula, raised over $40,000 in proceeds for Superstorm Sandy relief on Saturday, May 11 at the Encore Events Center in Freehold New Jersey. 1,800 people attended the show, which sold out in advance and kicked off with a once-in-a-lifetime meet-and-greet opportunity for longtime fans. Attendees witnessed remarkable performances by TWISTED SISTER, ANVIL, RAVEN, THE RODS, TT QUICK and LORDS OF MERCY, and an all-star jam closed out the show, featuring surprise appearances by JD Deservio of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and Dave "Snake" Sabo of SKID ROW.

METALLICA's upcoming IMAX 3D movie, "Metallica Through The Never", will be shopped and screened at this year's Cannes film festival, the world's most important cinema showcase, by Nigel Sinclair and Guy East's international sales company Exclusive Media. "After wading through multiple international distribution options for our film, we are excited to be partnering up with the folks at Exclusive Media, who we feel understand METALLICA and understand our film better than anyone else," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. "Throw in the cherry-on-top, launching our international sales with a couple of screenings at the film market during a little up-and-coming film festival in Cannes, and it feels like we're off to a pretty rockin' start."

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis' attorney believes his client may have been the victim of a setup in connection with the singer's alleged attempt to hire someone to kill Lambesis' estranged wife. Tim was arrested without incident on Tuesday (May 7) around 2 p.m. at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Oceanside, California and was ordered held on $3 million bail during his arraignment hearing on Thursday. He faces nine years in state prison if convicted. Prosecutors initially requested that Superior Court Judge Martin Staven set Lambesis' bail at $20 million, saying the singer remains "substantially motivated to kill his wife.". Speaking to Artisan News, Tim's attorney, Anthony Salerno (not related to Sabrina Salerno), revealed that Tim's charges were a lot heavier initially, with the potential consequences being life in jail. "He was arrested for conspiracy to commit murder, which carries a life sentence, as well as being booked for soliciting murder," Salerno said. "I won't necessarily get too deep [in the details of] the law surrounding conspiracy, but I came to believe very strongly that there is absolutely no way that he could be even charged with conspiracy, much less convicted of it. [So] one of the first things I did was to reach out directly to the [district attorney] that was assigned to the case and had some conversations with her. And she, in fact, did decide for Tim not to be charged with conspiracy, which was a big victory, 'cause that took a potential life sentence off the table before he was even charged. That's something that jumped out at me right away that I needed to do that early intervention so we did that."
At the 2013 Bonfest in Kirriemuir, Scotland, the funding campaign for the BON SCOTT STATUE to be erected in Bon's hometown was started. By June 5th, a total of 50,000 pounds must be collected in order to make this effort possible. THE CULT will perform their 1987 album Electric, raw and unfiltered on tour in 2013, an event branded as Electric 13. Until now, The Cult have never performed the album in its entirety. Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church has announced via Twitter that it will picket the public memorial celebration for late Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman, which will be held May 23 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public on a first-come, first-in basis (subject to venue capacity, which is listed at around 4,000 people). All ages are welcome, and paid parking will be available around the venue. Westboro Baptist Church previously said that it would sing its "parody" of Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train "at full voice" at Hanneman's funeral. Note from Lords Of Metal: we all sincerely hope that metalheads attending the ceremony will shut up the Westboros for good. They are nothing more than filth and should be treated accordingly.
Dark Tranquilitys tenth studio album, Construct, will be released on May 27 via Century Media Records. The CD was mixed by Jens Bogren (Paradise Lost, Opeth, Katatonia) at his Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden.
Sepultura will reunite with producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot) to record the band's next album, tentatively due in October/November via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will be tracked in June at Robinson's studio in Venice, California and will be co-produced by Steve Evetts, who previously worked with Sepultura on the Nation (2001), Revolusongs (2002) and Roorback (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past. Sepultura's upcoming CD will mark the first time the band will have recorded an album outside Brazil since Against.

Evile will release their fourth album, Skull, on May 27 in Europe on Earache Records and in North America via Century Media/Earache Records. The artwork for the album was painted by artist Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sodom, Hatebreed). Trouble will release their first studio album in six years, The Distortion Field, in North America on July 16 and in Europe on July 26 via FRW Records. The 12-song follow-up to 2007's Simple Mind Condition is being helmed by veteran producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Dark Angel, Sacred Reich, Cryptic Slaughter, D.R.I.) and marks the recording debut with Trouble of lead singer Kyle Thomas following the departure of the group's frontman of four years, Kory Clarke (of Warrior Soul fame).

The Winery Dogs , the new project featuring Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Adrenaline Mob), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) and Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big, Poison), will release the band's self-titled debut album in Japan on May 15 via Victor Entertainment. Gravdal announced today that they are parting company with guitarist Specter. The parting is completely amicable, with Specter deciding that he needs to commit more time to other projects, something that Gravdal both supports and understands. The band have now started working on the follow up to Torturmantra, which featured a show-stopping guest performance by Shinings Niklas Kvarforth on the track Mishandlet. According to guitarist Phobos, We are ready to reveal that the album will be called Kadaverin but more than that we cant say at the moment.
Profane Prayers new album is entitled Tales of Vagrancy and Blasphemy. Recorded in Basement Studios, Athens and mixed and mastered in 210 Studio, Berlin by Stamos Koliousis and Vangelis Labrakis this is the sophomore album for Profane Prayer.
