Effective immediately, last Wednesday the European Union resigned the Dutch way of dealing with illegal downloading, meaning that from now on not only the one who offers illegal content (movies, music, series), but also the one who downloads illegal content should be prosecuted. We asked a couple of our relation for a short response:
Ron van Hal (Aces High Promotions, ex Aardschok): I think this comes ten years too late.. Illegally downloading has been condoned so long, that we have started to think of it as normal and those who think differently, we consider as wining peopleBut there is evident proof that illegal downloading has drastically dropped back since the offer of decent legal online services. Consumers have started to see illegal downloading as such an obvious way to go, that I is unlikely they will ever start to find the way to the official stores. But although I embrace the decision, I still have doubts on the execution of this ban, as our government still leaves the cases in the hands of BUMA/Stemra and BREIN, who defend the rights of intellectual proprietors, which make them civil cases. But, for those who want to keep their conscious clear, there are plenty of paid alternatives available, with reliable service. So I think that is the future.
Michiel Boesten (V2 Records): There will always be individuals who will dive under the radar and avoid prosecution, but the signal that is sent of this decision is a good one and will hopefully persuade more people to give the Legal options some support.
Ronald Draijer (Suburban): Downloading is yesterdays news for a while now. I expect streaming to become te new standard. And there will always be those who really love music and buy actual physical products.
Tim Toornvliet (Bits Of Freedom): This is a big step backwards. It proves to be hard to effectively execute copyright without putting severe limits to the freedom of those who go online. We think the EU should have a thorough debate on modernization of copyrights for artists.

Breaking news, although NOT confirmed: Dutch radiostation 3FM posted message on Twitter that AC/DC is calling it quits. Reason for that drastic decision is the health of guitarist Malcolm Young. You can read the message at this location (Dutch only, were sorry). Well keep you posted as soon as we know more about the matter.

The Facebook page for guitarist KARL COCHRAN (RATED X, JOE LYNN TURNER, VOODOOLAND) has been updated with the following news about his health: "Hello Everyone. This is Chris, Karl's good friend and guitar roadie/tech for the past 15 years... Here is what has happened. Yesterday morning, Karl collapsed at home, becoming unresponsive. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed as suffering from a stroke. That hospital emergency transported him to a bigger, better equipped hospital (keeping the name out for privacy sake). They performed more tests and scans, and determined that the left carotid artery, which feeds the entire left hemisphere of the brain, had become completely blocked. He was taken to emergency surgery in an attempt to open up the blocked artery. The surgeons were amazing, and tried for several hours, but all attempts to open up the blocked artery failed. Therefore, Karl suffered a massive stroke to the left hemisphere of his brain. Believe me when I tell you, there was nothing that could have been done... Karl is the strongest person I've ever known, and to quote him "if you knock me down, you better make sure I stay down, because if you don't, I'll keep getting up." Nothing is set in stone yet. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts. He can use every ounce of positive mojo you possess. I will attempt to post regular updates (here) on his condition as it changes." Yesterday, KISS frontman Paul Stanley posted that Cochran woke from his coma and spoke, was moving and aware. Read all the updates at
