Do you also have this feeling that the year 2017 passed us by like some speed demon from hell? That might have something to do with the fact that yours truly never has a dull moment and has always something to do, but it seems only a few days ago that we, in diverse degrees of intoxication, stumbled into the new year, while a healthy look at the calendar teaches us that we can look forward already to a fresh row of December festivities. And with that I don’t only mean Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but also our own metal Xmas extravaganza: the Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

If my count is accurate, this will be the thirteenth time we can celebrate this awesome party organizer Roman Hödl is throwing for us at the Effenaar Eindhoven (The Netherlands), December 15th and 16th. A party I personally also will attend for the thirteenth time, but it just never gets boring. There’s always a band in the line-up I like (not so hard with more than 30 bands on the bill), and besides that it’s always great to catch up with old friends, colleagues and other acquaintances in the very well stocked bar. To be honest with you, I don’t care much for the rest of the holiday season really, for what possibly can top these two days of good company, cool bands and everything else a metal dude needs to eventually roll over and crash?

But before getting in the party mode we had to put a brand new edition of LoM online, and so we did, so here is the last edition of 2017. And it is obvious things are slowing down a bit at the end of the year. Not when it comes to the club season though, for most of the Dutch stages are booked almost every night. There is also already a great buzz going in relation to the big 2018 summer festivals, for most of them already are announcing the headliners. If you have kept a keen eye on the news you might already know that the choice is awesome and difficult alike. I mean, you can spend your hard-earned money only once, right? Nope, the relatively peace and quiet comes from the release front, for traditionally in the months of December and January fewer albums are released compared to the rest of the year, and as a consequence we’ve interviewed fewer bands as well. So we kind of take the easy road to the end of 2017 in preparation of the awesome metal year 2018 without a doubt will prove to become.

So on behalf of the whole team I would very much like to wish you all a very nice Silly Season, with lots of good food and drinks, be careful with the pyro, and I hope to see you all again in 2018! Make it a nice one.

So much for our state of the union this time, I’m sure you will find your way through this edition of LoM on your own. Remarks, comments, criticism, tips, information, offers, insults and applications are welcome at the familiar addresses as usual. Lords Of Metal edition 186 will be unleashed around January 2nd. Until then.
