William Pezy : Mike Tramp has been one of the heroes of my teenage years. The man with the amazing voice that grabbed me by the throat since the first White Lion albums. With his new release Stray From The Flock he makes it clear that he is nowhere near the point of retirement. On the contrary he proves again that he belongs on stage to rock on. The most striking element on the album is the state of his voice. It is like never before. He sounds awesome. The vocal parts seem to go back to his roots which is a thing that makes me extremely happy. Yet, it is a difficult album to me. He is supported by a band that makes this album way to much a singer songwriter to me. Mike is balancing on the thin line between this genre and rock for some years now. He is the one that makes the music and the one to decide what music to write. Still, after listening to this album over and over again it leaves me thinking that I would love to hear it again but with an energetic rock band supporting him. It might just become the album of the year, or rock album of this decade. Right now the question should be if it is suitable for Lords Of Metal. Because we do metal. If you are into acoustically supported singers, this might be your album. For damn, his voice is great.
