Dennis : The metal scene seems to be flooded by old school death metal bands that seem to be popping up like mushroom lately. And the funny thing is, a lot of these bands sound really killer, so we cannot really complain about it. The recent releases of bands like Bloodbath, Zealot Cult, Tribe of Pazuzu, Vile Apparation, Revel In Flesh or Gravestone are simply too good to ignore. And every day there are still new and young metal fans discovering the greatness of old school Swedish buzzsaw death metal who start their own band. The guys in Wretched Fate, for instance, were not even born when bands like Carnage, Entombed, Dismember of Grave invented the now well-known Swedish death metal sound. On their debut album Fleshletting that will be released on February 22 through Redefining Darkness Records, Wretched Fate show they have studied their masters well. The four young Swedes offer a dozen of monstrous old school death metal compositions that will have most old school death metal fans mouth-watering. Fat sounding HM-2 riffage, aggressive drums and screeching solos blow through my speakers here and I cannot stop headbanging while listening to the tunes of Fleshletting! This simply sounds awesome! And it has a great production too, the sound is incredibly powerful! I am not going to analyze these tracks further, Wretched Fate plays Swedish old school death metal with a very familiar sound and these guys know what they are doing here. They possess the skills to write great songs, catchy riffs and in your face old school death metal. Wretched Fate touch the right chord on their debut album Fleshletting and reproduce the essence of this beautiful Swedish death metal sound. Make sure not to miss out on this one!
