Marcel H. : Carrion Mother hails from Bavaria and steamrollers over the listener in 53 minutes spread over four songs. A sludge steamroller where quite a bit of funeral doom can be discerned as well, provided with tormented vocals. At times some post metal soundscapes that provide quite a bit of atmosphere and makes everything sound even more mournful. I missed their debut Koronis from 2012, but due to Nothing Remains my interest in that album has been piqued. The production emphasizes at the right moments the right ingredients. Be it the vocals when needed, or the guitars when needed and then the soundscapes which are almost ambient at times.
