Release type: Full-length CD

Pim B. : I cannot say for sure, but you would think that Horrisonous might be some sort of continuation of Backyard Mortuary. The latter called it quits in 2014 and the former started out in 2015. Three out of the five members were also active in Backyard Mortuary. These Aussies are quite active by the way as they are also in bands such as Illimitable Dolor, The Slow Death, Nazxul, Pestilential Shadows or Golgothan Remains to name a few.

In 2016 the band self-released the EP The Plague Doctors on which you can find five own compositions as well as a cover of an Autopsy track. A bit later they digitally released two more covers recorded during the same session. These were songs originally by Asphyx and Celtic Frost. Dropping those names you probably get a good idea what type of death metal Horrisonous delivers. Also think of Incantation and Bolt Thrower and you know this five-piece are into authentic death metal. They have an ear for variation in tempo, cool melodies and most of all brutal riffs. As you will understand these elements are also present on this first full-length. The title of this album tells exactly what the songs are about. At least, that is what I suspect looking at the titles of songs such as Perpetual Mincing, Crispy Chunks Of The Obese, Nourishment Through Excrement or The Number Of The Feast. Horrisonous has a sense of humour. However, they take their music very seriously as A Culinary Cacophony is a solid album that should appeal to the fan of OSDM.
