Koen W. : The Italian folk metal band Furor Gallico releases their third album with ‘Dusk Of The Ages’. As we are used to, it is a mix of death metal with folk music. Electric guitars, drums and bass are nicely alternated here and assisted by authentic flute and string instruments. And as always vocalist Davide Cicalese releases his great versatility. From grunts and roles to clean vocals. Sometimes this is so intertwined, that you think the band works with several male singers. And then there are the beautiful atmospheric female vocal parts that claim their place. However, the band has become somewhat firmer compared to their previous albums. Death metal is even more prominent here. And that sometimes sounds brutally brutal. Everything is nicely alternated or complemented with folk elements. Individually the tracks do not stand out, but together they form a beautiful coherent whole. What is missing here though is an absolute killer track, that would really give their music a boost.
