Berto : Zapruder is a French band that has been active since 2010 and now releases their third album, simply titled 'Zapruder'. The band plays (according to the official reading) a form of hardcore, but it is actually a mix of various styles, making it difficult to stick a clear label on it. For example, the band has the nerve to use a saxophone in several songs, 'Leaving Montreal' is even full of the sound of this alien instrument and this shows once again that Zapruder is a band for the enthusiast and the more adventurous listener.
Although difficult to explain, there are some standard elements in the sound of the band that will be embraced by every lover of extreme music. The guitar sound is heavy and placed prominently in the mix and along with the powerful, somewhat raw vocals these are things that you hold on to while listening. Of course there are several listening sessions needed to fully understand the music, but that applies to all good music I guess. Zapruder is also worth the extra time, because sometimes the songs may sound chaotic, but they never really are, if you know what I mean. You will always discover after listening to it a few times that there is a red line running through the songs and that you have received sufficient support from the band to get to know them. Often the band is placed in the category "mathcore", which probably means that the reviewer finds it all very complicated and is too lazy to really describe the music and because he used to be bad in mathematics probably. Well I probably did not describe the various songs in detail as well but the final result is worth your time, I just want to make that clear here.
