Anneke Van Giersbergen - Symphonized

Label : Inside Out | Archive under hardrock / aor

Release type: Full-length CD

Sjak : Female singer Anneke van Giersbergen of course doesn’t need any introduction anymore, as she has been releasing one after another great album during a long period of time already, both being in several bands (among others The Gathering, The Gentle Storm and VUUR) and as a solo artist. Therefore she’s (rightfully) known as one of the best and most influential female singers in the Netherlands and she has without a doubt truly deserved that status. In May of 2018 Anneke has done two shows together with the Residence Orchestra The Hague, which once more provided her with a perfect opportunity to showcase her vocal capabilities.

Both songs of The Gathering, The Gentle Storm and VUUR are played as well as some covers and a few of her own songs (among which also a Dutch song called ‘Zo Lief’ which was not released before), but then in a very “stripped” format. Those of you who only dig heavy music should therefore totally neglect this album, because everything is based on very subdued instrumentation and great vocals. ‘Symphonized’ has really become a listening album and not too many Lords Of Metal readers will be able to appreciate this. Despite of that on this album Anneke once more proves to be a unique singer, who can adapt herself effortlessly to different musical styles and who doesn’t seem to have any problem with that from a vocal perspective. Vocally this ‘Symphonized’ is a very impressive album, but as such definitely not really suited for the average Lords Of Metal reader…
