Nima : There are those records that simply don’t need many words, and this 'II – Dark Season' is one of them. The band around the singer/guitarist Shaun “Vanik” Vanek – and also live guitarist for Midnight – continues on the same path as on the ’self-titled debut’ and comes with a half hour of tasty heavy/speed/thrash n' roll, but even stronger.
If you haven’t heard the debut yet, you can think in the direction of bands like Whipstriker, Speedwolf, Hellbastard, Toxic Holocaust, Children Of Technology, and similar act. Of course that also means a lot of Venom, Hellhammer, Bulldozer and in this case of course Midnight, with the famous fuck-you-all, rock n 'roll vibe and attitude of Motörhead. Goddamn it, how bloody tasty this sounds! The in- and outro not included, we have nine tracks of pure metal and pure energy with a delightfully grim charge and horror stories. Although the pace is kept up pretty well in general, there is also enough room for variety to keep things interesting. Moreover, the songs are packed with strong and highly catchy riffs and the appropriate frustrated, aggressive vocals. Vanik's voice is sounds like a combination of Lemmy and Cronos, but with a clean edge, and fits perfectly with the whole. The album doesn’t need much more words than that to be honest, because this is just a great chunk of metal n 'roll that will definitely appeal to the fans of the genre.
