Henk : It was four years ago that the previous album by Skull Fist, 'Chasing The Dream', saw the light. In those four years a lot has happened in the Skull Fist camp. The most radical thing was that singer / guitarist and most important songwriter Zach Slaughter has had surgery on his vocal cords and that will certainly have caused some delay on the new album. However, his falsetto voice has not changed due to the surgery. The advantage was that there was more time to come up with good songs. The album starts very convincingly with the fast 'You Belong To Me' which can now be heard on Spotify and YouTube. The first thing you notice is the drier sound compared to the previous albums. With that, everything sounds a lot more mature. The style has remained typically eighties in which especially the early Metallica and Megadeth can be heard in the fast-heavy metal songs and in the slower songs ('Heart Of Rio') you hear influences of Ratt and Slaughter. Also, on this album again the necessary double guitar solos and melody lines. Actually, Skull Fist recorded a very good record with a better sound than the previous albums. Outstanding tracks are the Van Halen-like 'Do not Cross Me' (hello 'Hot For Teacher') with very virtuosic play from the whole band and the melodic 'No More Running'.
