Wim R. : The Norwegian outfit The Cruel Intentions has been around since 2015. Now their debut sees the light of day, entitled ‘No Sign Of Relief’. Before the band released some singles. The band has their sound firmly rooted in the glam and sleaze rock scene. Singer Lizzy DeVine returned to his native country and formed The Cruel Intentions, after playing and touring with Veins Of Jenna in the States. The album consists of eleven songs that stay true to the sleaze and glam formula; songs clocking in around three minutes, gang vocals, quick and sharp guitar solos, with the characteristic vocals from DeVine as the cherry on the pie. If you did not know, you would think this album was released by an American band. But a warning is in place before you put this album on. Mister DeVine has a voice like a buzz saw that will definitely destroy all your glassware if it is around your speakers. It suits the music fine by the way. Songs like ‘Check Your Head’ and ‘Borderline Crazy’ will have you humming along after a listen or two. Although this kind of rock is not known for its virtuoso musicians, everything sound convincing and competent. Guitarist Kristian Solhaug is more than convincing in the riffing and solo department. A very good and heavy production only adds to what is one of the strongest sleaze releases thus far this year.
