Ominous Eclipse - Sinister

Label : Eigen beheer | Archive under death metal / grindcore

Release type: Full-length CD

Job : Ominous Eclipse is a Canadian death metal band that proudly shares itself under the NWOCDM banner; basically only denoting that it’s death metal from Canada and for some reason bearing that proudly as a badge on a jacket. Whatever, let’s move on and tell it like it is: this album is not worth your time. Riffs that we’ve already heard 40 times over the past three decades, drums that are literally bereft of any life and a vocalist that doesn’t do what’s required. For some reason, power metal also finds itself thrown in this mix of thrash and death metal and it’s an awful fit, reeking of cheesy stereotypical hooks and awful melodic direction. I’m also wondering why a song like ‘Lost At Sea’ (where the power metal influences are most prevalent) has to take eight minutes of your time and it’s a shame most songs tend to dwell on and on. I’d leave this record in the bin if I were you.
