Vera : With Scherbentanz we dive again into the Neue Deutsche Härte, with German lyrics and the use of electro, danceable rhythms and gothic/industrial tinge. Might be good, might be bad. ‘Reflektion’ happens to be the debut album from five guys hailing from the Regensburg area.

Semi heavy guitars and playful keyboards and synths surround the sturdy low-ranged half spoken vocals of Dominik Franciosi in ten compact songs with catchy choruses. Opener ‘Scherbentanz’ – promoted by a video in which we learn that the band has a well-thought image – sounds quite alright. Heavier guitars with proclaiming vocals in ‘Die List’, with solicitation for a hit in the club circuit. The lyrics are full of criticism (something that happens more than once with German bands in this genre), the music is entertaining. The trance-like ‘Delphi’ is not our cup of tea and not all of the songs are okay, consequently we have to wait for another album before judging. Until now, quite mediocre.
