Berto : Nasty Surgeons is a Spanish band that, despite the somewhat funny name, produces serious death metal. A mix of old school death metal and grindcore rolls over you like a bulldozer. Eleven brutal songs with fancy titles like 'Smell The Carcass' and 'Forensic Necrophilia' put the band into the category of bands like Cannibal Corpse and Avulsed, but Nasty Surgeons adds a bit more groove to the mix. The way the songs are built up, you hear that the band consists of experienced musicians and there is no musical misstep on 'Infectious Stench' except maybe a lack of originality. The band knows how to compensate this by just writing neck-breaking songs that any groovy old school death metal fan would want to hear. The band also has a predilection for dissonant guitar solos, such as in the title track or 'Impaled Crucified And Beheaded'. Not the way Slayer executes their solos but with a little more feeling in some way. By which I mean the kind of feeling that a dentist also exhibits while working on a root canal treatment. Closing triptych of the album consists of the song with the most expressive title 'Mouth To Anus', ‘Infernal Bacterial Infection' and 'Dr Death', probably referring to the seriesof films calledThe Human Centipede, but maybe we should ask the band . Musically, 'Infectious Stench' is food for every death metal enthusiast, lyrically only for the more rancid people among you.
