Cor : ‘Fire And Water’ was one of my very first albums, and together with Kiss and Sweet, this band can be called the foundation of my personal love for music. Singer Paul Rodgers is still active and comes up with a live album with sixteen great tracks from the classic Free repertoire, which include hits like ‘All Right Now’, ‘Wishing Well’, ‘Fire And Water’ and ‘Mr Big’ of course. As a bonus, some not that known, but truly great tracks (‘Be My Friend’, ‘Magic Ship’), are maybe even better performed. The man and his voice are still in remarkable good shape, I must say, and although Peter Bullick is no Paul Kossoff of course, still the technical skills are outstanding and even some truly passionate moments can be discovered. It’s a pity that the overall sound can be experienced as too compliant for a live album’. A bit of a “Rolling Stones experience” comes up: a current live version sounding even more polished and clean than the original studio version. Looking at the DVD reduces this feeling; watching these guys having a great time, playing with fun and conviction. These guys are no youngsters on the loose anymore, but they sure can bring it all to the stage. This is a very enjoyable registration f the sold-out Royal Albert Hall show, which is released on CD, DVD, triple vinyl album, and BlueRay.
