Koen W. : Ever since the beginning of this century Nonexist have been active, with some lengthy breaks in between releases. Though it must be said that the past few years they more frequently put out new stuff. Like their 2015 full-length release ‘Throne Of Scars’, one year later followed by the EP ‘The New Flesh’. In the meantime it has become 2018, and here’s a new sign of life: the EP ‘In Praise Of Death’. This record with the title 'In Praise Of Death' is on big ode to death metal. And especially the old school death metal bands from the 80s and 90s. This is expressed in five heavy songs in which a lot of guests have been summoned to participate. Vocalists like Kalle Nimhagen, Markus Johnsson, Mikael Stanne and Alexander Wittbom each did one or two songs, and Chris Amott (former guitarist with Arch Enemy) plays an extremely melodic solo in 'A Meditation Upon Death'. Recommend to everyone who still carries a torch for old-school death metal.
