Gluttony - Cult Of The Unborn

Label : Vic Records | Archive under death metal / grindcore

Release type: Full-length CD

Pim B. : Based on the album ’Beyond The Veil Of Flesh’ (2014) as well as the split with Sordid Flesh (2016) both colleague Sicktus and I concluded Gluttony isn’t an original band, but they do sound great. So, if you are looking for inventive sounding bands this will be a problem. The average death metal fan, that I also consider myself to be, will not give a damn. As long as you enjoy a cool portion of chugging death metal you won’t find any problems.

The new album by these Swedes, entitled ‘Cult Of The Unborn’, also won’t win any price fort originality. Still, these guys do impress in a way. The songs are compact and have a certain panache. Sound wise it’s all in order too. That typical Swedish HM-2 sound works like a time machine that brings you back to the glory days of bands such as Entombed, Dismember or Grave. It all chops, grinds and swings like nothing else. That’s all we need, right? Still not convinced by this review? Take some time and listen to the complete album.
